This policy explains what information troymccartan.com collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. This is a personal portfolio website for Troy McCartan, and data collection is kept to a minimum.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4), a web analytics service provided by Google. It helps me understand how visitors find and use the site — for example, which pages are viewed, the approximate location (city or region level), the device and browser used, and how a visitor arrived. This data is aggregated and is not used to personally identify you. IP addresses are anonymized by Google Analytics.
Cookies
To do this, Google Analytics sets small text files called cookies in your browser (such as the
_ga cookie) that help tell one visit apart from another. These are first-party analytics
cookies. This site does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How the information is used
I use this information only to improve the website and to understand which content is useful. I do not sell your personal information, and I do not share it with anyone other than Google acting as the analytics provider.
Embedded content
Some pages embed videos from YouTube using privacy-enhanced mode
(youtube-nocookie.com), which avoids setting YouTube’s tracking cookies unless you
actually play a video. The site also links to external sites such as LinkedIn; those sites have their
own privacy practices.
Your choices
- Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to stop GA4 from measuring your visits.
- Block or clear cookies in your browser settings.
- Use your browser’s “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control (GPC) setting.
